In this role, you will be accountable for developing new design concepts (including an integrated tailgate camera) and evaluating them against competitors, building a prototype, and testing functionality and durability. You will also be involved with creating product drawings, comprehensive drawing packages, and driving agreements to implementation. Additionally, you will support production for the first builds and assist the planning team with the transition to production (old vs new). You will also: Provide accurate, timely, and cost-effective engineering solutions for our customersTranslate customer requirements into engineering specifications through calculations and layoutsSpearhead the engineering change management process and create engineering change requests (ECRs) Manage the ECR approval process and issue change notices with effective dates and material dispositionOversee product attributes in the areas of quality, manufacturability, assemble ability, and Product cost Create solid models and drawings to achieve defined product attributesManage Engineering Bill of MaterialsDefine and execute validation plans to assure product qualityImprove the financial performance of projects through product cost optimizationDesign manufacturing aids, fixtures, and toolingBenchmark our competitions' products to compare product attributesSupport the NPI (New Product Introduction) processCreate and maintain engineering specifications with a focus on continuous improvementPartner with Operations to formulate standardized work procedures for production staffEnsure your projects are delivered in line with expectations for cost, quality, and timing Learn more about The Shyft Group and Royal Truck Body by exploring the hyperlinks below.
