Position Summary:The Materials Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the warehouse, inventory management, and order fulfillment along with being directly accountable for all purchasing activities within the Production Operations group. The Manager will also participate in project management and strategic initiatives, drive change for service delivery and customer operations, enforce policies, and provide continuous improvement recommendations while multi-tasking day to day responsibilities and ensuring order fulfillment through best practices with appropriate activity reporting. The Materials Manager will also oversee direct report staff members responsible for inbound and outbound shipments and receiving, stocking, issuing items, processing item and customer service requests and returns. The manager will assure accurate inventory counts and issue quarterly reports to reconcile inventory balance and will work with multiple departments to ensure proper allocation of costs for issuing items to work orders (GL accounts). This position must provide leadership and direction for continuous improvement in quality, delivery, cost performance and vendor management. Success will be measured by the ongoing improvement of on-time delivery, ongoing cost reduction, and ability to implement scalability to our long-term inventory management strategy. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable event-driven schedule which includes evenings and weekends.  Salary commensurate with experience. ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the effective management of fulfillment warehouse operations including inventory, receiving, purchasing, ordering, lay-ins, purchase order tracking, clean-up, transfers and equipment maintenanceSupervise the procurement process from supplier selection to order execution, including negotiating contracts and terms for inventory stock items, adding new inventory items, and ordering direct items for corporate facility, warehouse, and technical servicesMaintain strong relationships with suppliers and conducting vendor evaluations Ensure the quality of incoming goods, coordinating with suppliers on quality issuesAssure material availability in accordance to requested required date and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availabilityAnalyze inventory turnover to maximize efficient use of warehouse space and capitalOversee build out of WMS to include item classifications, attributes, and countsTroubleshoot and resolve any service failures relating to purchasing or order fulfillment Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Service Level Agreements (SLA) Coordinate purchasing process improvement with internal clients, vendors, and distributorsMinimize ordering costs by balancing the economic order quantity for high consumption items. Analyze purchasing trends to recommend cost saving initiatives Plan, manage, and report on department KPI metrics Assist in managing department budgets Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure effective operationsConduct performance appraisals with reporting associates Set performance goals, objectives, and recommendations on training filesProvide positive and strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring for employees, as well as monitor performance and results. Participation in recognition, employee events, and employee satisfaction action planning Ensure that all safety procedures are understood and followed by providing up to date safety training to all employees and auditing proceduresAct as liaison for assessing and contracting vendors for facility maintenance and needs Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse Perform other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory management and purchasingStrong understanding of supply chain management and inventory control principlesProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management software.Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights.Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency.Preferred Qualifications: Military Experience and professional certification in supply chain or inventory management. ITIL, PMP, Scrum certifications desired.
