Job Description

The Director of Sales and Catering will report to the General Manager. This person will be responsible for developing programs and strategies that improve market penetration, brand recognition, and increase overall sales. As the senior leader and manager of the Sales and Marketing team this position is responsible for driving changes that result in profitable base business growth. The Director of Sales and Catering will be expected to lead the sales efforts and drive customer centered and revenue-driven goals. The ability to effectively create and execute sales and marketing strategies and tactics is essential. As the Director of Sales and Catering this position is responsible for growing revenue from corporate, social and entertainment events through event room rentals, restaurant sales and food and beverage catering sales. Duties, Responsibilities and Goals include:Achieve exceed budgeted property and individual sales targets (self and team).Conduct sales out in the field via face-to-face, phone andor virtual interactions with both potential and existing customers.Identify and develop new markets as well as deeper penetration of existing markets.This is an active sales and management position. The Director of Sales and Catering position is primarily focused on sales generation with time spent on sales functions, networking, marketing, and administrative functions.Primary focus is on developing sales strategies, and leading sales efforts, to sell multi-day catered events, such as trade shows, association conferences, exhibitions, corporategovernment training, etc.Manage rate and inventory to optimize revenues based on demand for utilization of banquet and meeting space.Assist with management of group contracts, rates and terms.Development and execution of creative promotions, packaging, sales and positioning of products and services.Establish revenue goals and expectations for each promotion or activity and report monthlyquarterly on measurements and effectiveness.Responsible for collaborating and directing various internal and external partners, such as advertising and marketing teams.Prepare yearly sales and marketing plan, budget, and revenue targets for approval.Collaborate on monthly forecasts and actively participate in sales meetings, including monthly pace, target to actuals, action plans and other reports as requested by management.Understand community supportmarketing organizations and participate, as needed.Assist GM on property as needed.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or Hospitality5 years' experience in sales, group catering events or like employment with management experienceMust be financially adept and accountable in managing to budget.Must have experience in the development and execution of sales and marketing plansDemonstrated oral and written communication skillsPlanning, organizing and effective time management skillsExperience with computer applications including but not limited to: Microsoft Office and Outlook. Experience with Reserve Interactive, Social Tables, and Laserfiche a plus.Professional appearance and demeanorAbility to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals & objectives.
