Summary of the position:Remember to check your CV before applying Also, ensure you read through all the requirements related to this role.The Continuous Improvement Engineer works in all aspects of Hitachi Global Air Power's operations to analyze processes and practices for improvement opportunities. They develop, manage, and lead cross-functional continuous improvement projects in alignment with Hitachi Global Air Power's quality goals. This individual must be a change advocate and successfully motivate and lead cross-functional teams to the ultimate sustainable outcome utilizing Lean Six Sigma concepts and best practices of Hitachi. The position is a communication link between all departments for the continued alignment of goals in support of continuous improvements of quality at Hitachi Global Air Power.This position is located on-site in Michigan City, Indiana.Duties and responsibilities:Train, coach, and motivate personnel in the understanding and adoption of new practices, processes, and systems, including Six SigmaPredict future COPQ considering product reliability based on analysis resultsMeasures and drives internal quality performance improvements for Quality KPIs: Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)Lead and assist root cause analysis investigations for key customer quality issues and COPQInvestigate and analyze processes across function for gaps and bottlenecks based on standards, best practices, and performance metricsWorks with operations on process evaluation and continuous improvement.Lead projects to improve quality of processes, products, and components, as a result of internal/external findings, customer complaints, and warranty analysis. Perform joint analysis of complex problems with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and other departments, to determine root cause and support development of countermeasures.Develop, manage, and lead continuous improvement projects aligning with department strategy and goalsManage a portfolio of quality improvement projects and execute using Six Sigma and QA toolsMaintain and develop methods for collecting, tracking, and displaying operational quality data and metricsShare best practices across products and departments and drive standardizationSpecify, justify, and implement new technology and system improvementsWork on deploying and demonstrating modules such as Change Management, Lean Six Sigma Overview, Teamwork & Training, Visual Factory Management, Continuous Improvement, Poka-Yoke, Standard WorkQualifications:Education:BS Degree in Engineering REQUIRED (Preferably Industrial or Mechanical)ASQ CQE, PMP & Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.Professional experience:5+ of experience of Continuous Improvement Engineering in Manufacturing, preferably of heavy equipment or automotive.Ability to take initiative on projects.Advanced quality assurance experienceStrong experience in applying Lean Six Sigma concepts and techniques.Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsProven record of motivating and leading cross-functional teams on projectsExperience with SAP or similar ERP systems is a plusAbility to work with minimal supervision.Key Skills & Behaviors:Six Sigma Black BeltQuality AssuranceContinuous ImprovementData AnalyticsOrganizedCritical ThinkingStrong Interpersonal & Communication SkillsDrivenTeam OrientedGrowth MindsetDirect reports:N/AThe successful candidate is responsible for complying with Hitachi Global Air Power US Code of Ethics and related policies.
