Job Description

The Electrical & Controls Engineer is part of an engineering team responsible for designing, developing and resolving problems related to electrical and control systems of industrial equipment in support of engineering, sales and operations. This position assists in the design and development of equipment by preparing technical documentation in accordance with sales proposals, performance requirements, specifications and safety protocols & standards.The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Researches and reviews project requirements and design information to determine if it is sufficient to complete the design while ensuring that the design concept can be met.Develops engineering documentation including P&ID, drawings, electrical schematics, and other related documentation.Communicates with the project team to establish essential functions and deadlines necessary to finish specific projects.Determines appropriate strategy to create designs and drawings using either a CAD template customized to the client's requirements, a standard template designed for the specific type of work, or by updating an existing CAD file.Analyzes reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects.Completes the design process using the information contained within the documents and in line with the Scope of Work; makes necessary corrections to existing drawings following quality review process.Assists the sales team with preparation of scope and estimates for proposals.Performs inspection and surveillance duties associated with outsource electrical procurement.Assists equipment startup at customer and supplier sites as required.Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.3-5+ years' experience designing control systems for OEM equipment.Experience designing control panels based on relay or PLC control.Experience writing, reading, and troubleshooting PLC control logic. Preferred experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, RSLogix / Logix Designer.Knowledge of plant process control and monitoring is a plus.Preferred experience with process safety, understanding and interpreting equipment risk assessments, and participation in HAZOP.Working knowledge of related codes and standards, including NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 86.Proficiency in technical writing required.Ability to work collaboratively within a creative, professional, team environment.ADA REQUIREMENTS (For U.S. positions only):
