At Kelvin, we value diversity, innovation, and fostering a collaborative environment where every team member's perspective is appreciated.Position: IoT EngineerLocation: Brooklyn, NYAbout the IoT Engineer position:As an IoT Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development, deployment, and overall success of Kelvin's Cozy devices and network. This role will combine software development with hands-on diagnostics, addressing any deployment challenges to ensure our products perform at their best. With a focus on continual improvement, the ideal candidate will seek out ways to directly influence the efficiency and excellence of our products. If you are a software engineer that tinkers with hardware like Raspberry Pi and open source software in your free time, this role might be a good fit.What You'll Do● Design & Development:Collaborate with Kelvin software and hardware engineers to ensureKelvin's products meet customer expectations.Prototype embedded software features to optimize performance, usability, and trial new capabilities.● Testing & Deployment:Develop tools and processes for IoT device provisioning and deployment (firmware flashing and upgrading, barcode printing and scanning).Augment VPN ecosystem (WireGuard) to lower friction of new deployments and maintain existing infrastructure.Field deployments in the NYC area● Maintenance & Troubleshooting:Monitor IoT devices and systems for performance metrics and anomalies.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to IoT devices, gateways, networks, and associated cloud services.● Research & Innovation:Investigate standard protocols (such as modbus, rs485) to prototype connections that enable new functionality.Stay updated with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies in the IoT landscape.Research and evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance the capabilities of IoT solutions.● Documentation:Create technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, and user manuals.What You'll Need:● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.● Proven experience (6+ years) as an IoT engineer or in a related field.● Proficient in programming in C and Rust.
