Job Description

Overview The Orange County Correctional Facility is seeking highly skilled individuals to fill the position of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The individual will perform nursing duties requiring skills and judgment in the care and treatment of patients in a correctional setting using nursing principles and techniques for a variety of the patients' medical needs. Correctional LPNs have special skill sets that allows them to potentially make a significant difference in the lives of their patients by treating them objectivity and with respect, while providing ethical, safe, and compassionate care. Must be able to work a variety of shifts; including nights and weekends $2500 Sign On Bonus- terms and conditions apply. Initial payment is $1250 at time of hire and $1250 paid out after successful completion of probationary period. (Probationary period is normally six months) Representative Duties Primary duties functions as medication and treatment nurse. Monitors medication compliance in accordance with established protocols. Accurately documents the administration of medication and treatments provided. Observes patients for deviations from normal conditions, documents changes and notifies appropriate. Carries out treatment plans as established by the medical team. Obtains urine, blood and other specimens for laboratory examinations. Assists physicians in clinic areas. Responds to all emergencies. Maintains unit compliance for inspections. Participates in in-service training programs and mandatory continuing education. Provides routine clinic tasks as needed. Other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Graduate from an accredited LPN program. Must have a current valid Florida License Practical Nurse license. Proficient in the use of computers. Preferences Must be able to work a variety of shifts; including nights and weekends One year work experience as a LPN Previous work experience in a correctional environment Good phlebotomy, communication and computer skills Certified in Health Basic Life Support Medical/surgical nursing experience Notes Applicants are responsible for filling out the application in its entirety including detailed job duties for each prior employment in the work history.
