This position is well-suited for a talented, experienced individual who is interested in contributing to and managing innovative and challenging projects.Our projects include:Mine waste and tailings management studiesTailings storage facility designMine site civil infrastructure designMine closure planning and designDam safety reviews and auditsGeotechnical investigations, assessments and analysis to support the above.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis role focuses on supporting our clients tailings and mine waste management and operational teams to ensure their facilities are safe. Compliance with the latest standards (which are evolving) is critical for mining companies to demonstrate their commitment to ESG and for the Social License to Operate. This role forms part of our team to provide the technical and operational support for Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and Water Storage Facilities (WSF).As a Senior - Tailings / Geotechnical Engineer, this role requires the application of the tasks listed below (geotechnical engineer), but also an expanding knowledge of all elements and disciplines required to design these facilities, such as hydrogeology, process, geochemistry, water, civil engineering and social engagement.Some of the key responsibilities may include:Civil/Geotechnical/Tailings dam design;Geotechnical analyses using various software packages;Understanding of tailing deposition modelling (Muk3D);Geotechnical and environmental site characterisation;Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;Some project/task management and proposal preparation support;Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications;Education and LicensureBachelor''s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field. (required)Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field. (preferred)Professional registration (preferred but not essential)Skills, Experience and QualificationsDirectly relevant experience in a consulting environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)5 to 10+ years of consulting experience operating within a geotechnical practice group;Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software. (required)Knowledge of numerical modeling tools. (preferred)Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)Civil or tailings engineering general;Experience in the GIS, CAD or Tailings Modelling software (i.e. QGIS, 12d, AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Muk3D);Familiarity with dam safety guidelines including ANCOLD, GISTM, CDA and WA-DMR;Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)Field work and overnight travel may be required;Valid Australian drivers license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
