Job Description

As a member of the L&H Finance team you will be part of the team responsible for the accounting and reporting of Swiss Re L&H Australia and New Zealand. You will also have exposure to finance colleagues in other locations in what is a very global and diversified environment.The position involves tasks and responsibilities directly related to the general ledger, reconciliations, intragroup retrocessions, regulatory returns and financial statements.This role is suited to an accountant with previous experience in Life Insurance reporting and a good understanding of insurance accounting principles. The successful candidate will be proactive, have good communication skills and be able to adapt to a highly dynamic environment.Your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):Financial Accounting and ReportingPreparation of quarterly & annual regulatory returnsPreparation of local annual statutory financial statements in Australia & New ZealandMaintenance of the general ledger including consolidationReview of month-end trial balance & reconciliationsMonitoring of intragroup retrocession arrangementsAssistance with APRA business planAssistance with external audit in coordinating and preparing audit information for interim and year-end auditAssisting with outsourcing controls to ensure compliance with CPS 230Ad hoc support to the L&H finance teamProcess ImprovementEvaluate, critique and improve existing financial processes and systems.Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Ensure adherence with robust internal controls and compliance with corporate policies.Stakeholder ManagementCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, and other departments.Communicate effectively with senior management and other key stakeholders.About the TeamSwiss Re offers modern working arrangements that allow all employees to adapt to changing work preferences.
