Overview:Trusted leadership position, working closely with the DVC VEExecutive leadership role within the College of VEInterim appointment to end of June 2026About the RoleThe Director leads a diverse, multi-disciplinary team focused on the Colleges strategic priorities and leading the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) for Vocational Education (VE). As a member of the VE executive leadership team, and the key advisory to the DVC VE, the Director fosters a cohesive approach to governance, strategy, and government engagement.Collaborating with the VE executive team, the Director develops and executes the VE strategy and manages the College''s governance, including submissions to University and external forums. The role involves engaging with central RMIT teams and government entities on funding, contracts, and strategy, allowing for timely responses to opportunities and risks in vocational education.The role collaborates across both VE and broader University leadership group, effectively acting as the glue that ensures planning and operational execution are aligned to the VEs operational goals and long-term strategy.About YouAn established leader with strong sector specific experience, you are motivated by the challenge of working in complex and changing environments with a broad range of academic and operational leaders to lead initiatives, resolve problems and challenges and deliver high impact outcomes.You will thrive in a faced-paced environment with an ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity.To be successful in this position, youll have:Extensive experience in strategic planning within large, complex organisations, with the ability to manage priorities effectively and maintain quality under pressure.Proven ability to manage diverse stakeholder relationships, conduct complex negotiations, and communicate effectively to influence and achieve strategic outcomes.Strong conceptual, planning, and organisational skills, with the capacity to represent the College, exercise autonomous judgement, and prioritise tasks in a demanding environment.Demonstrated success in creative and strategic thinking, particularly in developing strategic and commercial proposals and partnerships.Excellent strategy, communication, and business writing skills, with experience producing strategic plans, project plans, presentations, and reports.High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively or independently to align College initiatives with broader RMIT goals.High emotional intelligence and a consultative approach, with the ability to solve problems and build trusted relationships in a diverse environment.Experience in senior leadership roles managing multi-disciplinary teams with specialised skills.Mandatory Qualifications:Relevant postgraduate qualification and/or extensive experience.Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.About the College of Vocational EducationThe purpose of RMITs College of Vocational Education is to empower learners and our industry, community and government partners to succeed in the new world of work.
