The Australian Services Union (ASU) is a member-led, progressive union. We are one of the largest unions in Australia and have achieved record membership growth in recent years.The ASU represents workers in local government, energy, disability and community services, finance, call centres, airlines, legal and private sector administration.There is a rare opportunity to join the leadership team at the ASU SA + NT Branch, with a newly created Industrial Lead position available.The Industrial Lead willassist the Branch Secretary and Assistant Secretary with the strategic direction and daily operations of the unioncoordinate a team of Industrial Officers to advance and protect workplace rights and conditions, maintain industry standards and resolve individual and collective issues effectivelyrepresent ASU members and the union in high profile hearings, conferences and meetingswork closely with the ASUs legal representatives and national officials on complex industrial and legal mattersensure ASU members, delegates and staff are provided with high level industrial advice and trainingensure the work of the Industrial team aligns with the unions broader industry, campaign and growth plansparticipate in the unions broader political and social justice agendaWe are looking for an applicant who can demonstratesubstantial knowledge of the Australian industrial scene and the ability to use legislation, Awards and Agreements to enforce members rights and entitlementsexperience running matters in the Fair Work Commission, South Australian Employment Tribunal, Courts, the Human Rights Commission and other tribunalsexceptional negotiation and communication skillsmanagerial experience, and the ability to provide guidance, coordination and technical direction to the Industrial teamIdeally, applicants will hold tertiary qualifications in Law, Industrial Relations, Human Resources or similar, and have prior experience as an Industrial Officer or similar advocacy work.This position is a permanent, full-time position based in Adelaide. Some travel within South Australia and the Northern Territory (and the occasional travel interstate for national meetings) is required.The current salary range is $104,296 - $116,510 depending on skills and experience.This position also offers:A fully maintained vehicleFlexible work arrangements are available12 RDOs per year4 weeks annual leave per year17.5% leave loading3 additional Grace days over Christmas / New Yearsgenerous Superannuation arrangements, with additional employer contributions of up to 4.5% in excess of the Superannuation GuaranteeAs a union with a diverse membership, we are committed to equity and inclusion.
