Position overview The Media Adviser is a Corporate Services role, providing media support to promote the Courts interests and manage media enquiries efficiently to mitigate risks. The Corporate Services media team supports the Federal Court of Australia, the National Native Title Tribunal, the Australian Competition Tribunal, the Copyright Tribunal of Australia, and the Defence Force Discipline Appeals Tribunal. The key duties of the position include: Responding promptly to daily media enquiries across various channels. Liaising with executive leadership and Court staff, including judges and associates, to manage media enquiries and sensitive issues. Monitoring and distributing media statements and updates according to team procedures. Monitoring media coverage to identify opportunities or issues, and raising them with the Assistant Director, Media and Information. Producing written materials such as media releases, statements, and messages for different channels. Researching and analyzing complex or escalated issues to support planning. Contributing to policy, system, and process development to meet service, quality, and timeliness standards. Assisting the Media Committee as needed. Travel interstate may be required. Professional qualifications and experience Qualifications: Degree or diploma in public relations, communications, or journalism from an Australian or comparable overseas institution. Experience: Relevant experience in communications, media, public relations, or community engagement, with sound judgment and discretion for critical and urgent events. Written communication: Excellent skills in researching, writing, and editing materials for publication. Verbal communication: Ability to build relationships and communicate complex concepts confidently and diplomatically. Management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, work autonomously, and exercise discretion on sensitive matters. Stakeholder management: Experience managing stakeholder initiatives and building lasting relationships.
