About the PositionAs the Director of People and Capability (Chief People Officer) you will have autonomy to lead the People and Capability section to deliver high quality human resource services, including strategic and operational advice and activities across the ARC.Reporting to the Branch Manager, Corporate and Enabling Services you will contribute to shaping the strategic direction of the section while delivering on the agency''s corporate agenda.The key duties of the position includeDuties and TasksThe duties include, but are not limited to:Leading the People and Capability team to deliver a full range of HR services.Ensure people management practices align to contemporary and future workforce objectives and deliver on implementation strategies and activities.Continue to improve the development and implementation of best practice employment and WHS policies, practices and systems to support the Agency and Government initiatives and priorities.Develop and maintain frameworks to assist people management planning and reporting.Be a trusted partner and sustain effective relationships both internally and with external stakeholders, including professional associations, service providers and Government agencies.Be an active member and contributor on a range of Agency committees as required.Model integrity, safety and wellbeing, and the APS values within your team and the agency.Required Skills and KnowledgeAbility to think strategically and work collaboratively to translate agency strategy into operational processes.Strong analytical skills including the ability to collate, interpret and apply critical thinking to highly complex information as well as recognise and effectively respond to risks and opportunities.Demonstrable experience in leading and successfully managing projects by developing clear plans to deliver within timeframe, resources, and budget constraints to accomplish outcomes.High level relationship management skills, with the ability to build and sustain strong networks and relationships within the agency and external stakeholders and remain calm under pressure in sensitive situations.Excellent leadership and communication skills; including the ability to effectively represent the agency in external meetings and forums.Extensive experience and leadership in a range of People Operations including but not limited to: strategic and complex case management, Workforce Strategy, Payroll, Recruitment, Learning and Development, Diversity, Culture, Performance Management and Work, Health and Safety management.Extensive knowledge, understanding and interpretation of employment and workplace laws, compliance requirements and government policies.Understanding of the importance of the Australian research landscape and the valuable contribution the ARC makes to government policy and to the future of the Australian community.Our Ideal CandidateWe are seeking an experienced and contemporary leader, who will thrive in an evolving dynamic environment, where there are opportunities to directly influence and drive transformational change.You will work collaboratively with your team and peers, embracing innovative approaches to deliver results.You will be able to manage and motivate employees to build high performing teams and develop broader organisational capability.
