Primary objective Work collaboratively with principals and school staff, the community, students, parents/caregivers and service providers to support student attendance, participation and engagement in learning. The Family Engagement Officer is also responsible for connecting children and families with external service providers, including health and allied health where required. Context statement The Children and Schooling Program (CASP, formally known as RSAS) is a community-focused strategy that employs local people to bring together families, schools, communities, and other services to design and deliver local solutions to improve school attendance, attendance, engagement, and attainment. The Children and schooling Program is a part of the Engagement Programs, Performance and Reporting and Inclusion and Engagement Services. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Work collaboratively and build strong connections with corporate and school staff and other government and non-government agencies to support students to attend and engage in education and learning. 2. Provide timely education advice and support to parents and carers, including home visits. 3. Promote education activities and key education messages to students and families. 4. Assist with delivering locally tailored activities to support and improve regular school attendance and engagement and participation. 5. Under supervision provide and/or support the provision of, case coordination services that address student concerns. This includes the provision of cultural advice, where appropriate, and advocacy. 6. Undertake a variety of administrative duties to ensure accurate program reporting requirements are met. Selection criteria Essential 1. Knowledge and understanding of school administration systems, or willingness to learn. 2. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to bring people together and foster positive relationship between stakeholders. 3. Understand and demonstrate a commitment to privacy principles and confidentiality of student information. 4. Demonstrated interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience interacting effectively with people from diverse cultures including students, parents, carers and the community. 5. Proven ability to participate as part of a team in a spirit of positivity, reliability, trust and collaboration, as well as work cooperatively with senior management, staff members and peers in achieving the CASP objectives. 6. Proven ability to utilise computer programs to proAduce reports, for correspondence, and to manage information. Further information The recommended applicant will be required to: 1.
