ABOUT BRISBANE BASKETBALL INC. Brisbane Basketball Incorporated (BBI) is a not-for-profit organisation focused on growing the sport of basketball in the Southeast corner. With a strong club base, the Association runs regular fixtures, junior and senior competitions, representative teams (Brisbane Capitals), and development programs. The Association is the largest in the state, with over 5,000 members and over 15,000 connected individuals. The same applies to how we manage our competitions and programs. Communication | To do our best, we focus on teamwork and communication. This is both internal and external. POSITION PURPOSE This position leads the Community Basketball Team of Brisbane Basketball and reports directly to the Geneal Manager. The CBM does manage direct reports and leads volunteers and actions / support groups. The successful applicant will focus on delivering operational objectives related to and competitions. Tasks include. Competition Management Community Program Management Technical Officials Management and Education Tribunal Management Pro Coaching Management Club Support / Development Risk Management Workplace Health and Safety Customer Service General office tasks as required KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Club Liaison Be the first point of call at BBI for all competition enquiries. Delivery of all delegates meetings relating to Competitions. Attend club committee meetings to discuss Club requirements and BBI programs, initiatives and support as required. Competitions (GBL, SBL, JBC & 3x3) Competition Management o Competition Administrative support is provided. Tribunal Management o We use the Basketball Queensland Certrainised Tribunal syste, Technical Officials Management o Rostering and payment of officials. o Coordinating education opportunities of officials. Internal collaboration with the Venue Operations Manager to ensure adequate venues are secured for all competitions. Reporting and Benchmarking Participation numbers (including demographics) Retention rates (player and team retention) Transition rates (from Ford Aussie Hoops to clubs, from junior comp to senior comp) Coverage rates (Officials) Pro Coaching Rostering and payment of coaches Identifying suitable coaches. Areas of delivery / administration by direct report Ford Aussie Hoops / Holiday Hoops Overall management of the programs ensuring that the administrative/logistical requirements of the program are being met by the program administrator o Assist in the recruitment of casual staff members. o Staff rosters o Delivery of the Communication Plan in conjunction with the Marketing and Events Manager. o Session venues and dates. o Coach Pays Sporting Schools Targeted promotion of the Sporting Schools program to identified Schools within the BBI catchment. Coordinate the administrative/logistical requirements of the program including; o Assist in the recruitment of casual staff members. o Staff rosters o Delivery of the Communication Plan in conjunction with the Marketing and Events Manager. o Session venues and dates. Competitions Administration Registration set up Nomination set up Draw construction Draw management RELATIONSHIPS Direct Reports; Community Basketball Coordinator Ford Aussie Hoops Internal Relationships; Staff, Members, Venue Staff External Relationships; Program participants, Parents / Caregivers, Clubs, service providers and contractors, Basketball Queensland. SELECTION CRITERIA Qualifications; Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (Sports Administration) would be highly regarded. Queensland Working with Children check, or ability to obtain Valid drivers licence and own vehicle Current First Aid Certificate Experience; Proven success (3 year minimun) in Managing development sporting programs with a focus on increased participation and retention. Experience in developing a strong, cohesive team focused on delivering sports development goals. Skills and Competencies; Demonstrated a high level of verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, together with a solid commitment to customer service Well-developed computer literacy skills, particularly in relation to Microsoft Office applications Time management and organisation skills, ability to work under pressure Professional approach to work Formal basketball coach accreditation is desirable. Previous experience in a similar sport development role is desirable.
