Summary Provides in-depth financial support and navigation to patients regarding insurance, billing, out-of-pocket expenses, and financial hardships, while promoting financial literacy. Collaborates with providers to ensure cost-effective treatments, works with insurance providers for proper payments, advocates for patients on billing issues, and helps eliminate bad debt. Communicates effectively about patients financial obligations and assists with financial programs along the care continuum. Interacts with patients, physicians, insurance companies, and staff for scheduling, pre-registration, and billing. Uses system tools extensively to ensure accurate financial information. Job Details Location: Akron City Campus Type: Full-Time, 40 hours/week, Days (M-F 7a-3:30p or 8a-4:30p - Flexible) No Weekends / On-Site Qualifications Three years of post-secondary education and/or experience in medical insurance process/verification and customer service skills. Patient navigation experience preferred. Ability to obtain Financial Navigation certification I & II from the Association of Community Cancer Centers within 6 months. Ability to obtain Financial Navigation Training and Insurance Optimization certification from NaVectis Group within 6 months. Knowledge of verification and authorization requirements for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and other payers. Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations, demonstrating courtesy, tact, and discretion. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and financial assessment skills. Ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment, multitask, and maintain quality and efficiency. Strong customer service skills and active listening. Empathy for patients and families under stress. Ability to travel between locations during the workday. Physical Demands Sedentary: exerting up to ten pounds of force occasionally.
