Your role: As a Workshop Leading Hand, you will supervise staff performing repairs and maintenance of the Transdev John Holland Bus fleet, primarily at the Randwick and Waverley depots, with occasional work at Port Botany based on operational needs. Free site parking is available at all depots. Your work supports the public transport industry across bus Region 9 in Sydneys Eastern Suburbs, helping connect families, friends, and future generations by delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable journeys. You will work on a rotating shift roster, including weekends, with flexibility for coverage due to staff leave. Your responsibilities: Perform trades-based maintenance work on buses efficiently and cost-effectively, complying with standards. Supervise up to 30 staff from various trades, including mechanics, body repairers, spray painters, auto electricians, trade assistants, apprentices, contractors, suppliers, and couriers. Assist management in implementing strategies and coordinating workshop activities to meet contractual requirements. Conduct checks to ensure vehicles are operational and fit for service. Fault finding and quality assurance of work completed. Maintain accurate records using administrative and computerized systems to optimize operations and control costs. Investigate issues and prepare performance reports as needed. Supervise warranty activities to ensure compliance. Hours of work: Rotating roster with shifts: 6am-2.30pm, 10:30am-7:30pm, 2pm-10pm, or 2:30pm-10:30pm. Saturday shifts are paid at time and a half. Flexibility required for coverage and leave. The talent you bring: Current NSW MVTC Motor Mechanic trade certificate, or MVTC Panel Beater or Auto Electrical trade with relevant bus experience. Current HC drivers license (or C license with willingness to upgrade). Previous supervisory experience in bus maintenance or public transport. Computer literacy for maintenance record-keeping.
