This role will suit a lawyer with a strong commercial property and retail leasing background. Part-time candidates will also be considered.The Legal Counsel will work as part of a team of seven in-house lawyers to support 7-Elevens Retail Operations area. The Legal team also advises on general commercial contracts, trade practices issues, franchising, privacy, intellectual property, technology, and litigation. The Legal team uses a business partnering approach to support the business in implementing strategic and commercial initiatives while minimizing legal risk.We need you toDraft, review, and negotiate general commercial contracts, agreements for lease, retail and commercial leases, licenses, and all related negotiations and legal documents for our national lease portfolio.Provide legal advice relating to general commercial contracts, property transactions, and obligations under existing contracts to support 7-Elevens strategy and business activities. Your advice will be commercially astute, practical, and solutions-focused.Provide ad hoc advice on property, environmental, construction, asset management matters, and general commercial contracts.Provide supplementary legal education to the business as a risk mitigation measure.Be a meaningful contributor to improving the Legal teams efficiency and effectiveness.Whats in your toolkit?Law degree, an unrestricted practicing certificate, and experience working in a private practice or in-house environment, specializing in retail and commercial leasing (minimum 2 years post-admission).Experience in retail property, franchising, construction, and/or procurement.Professionalism, integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion is essential.Ability to effectively influence both internal and external stakeholders is mandatory and experience in breaking down complex problems and recommending appropriate solutions with limited assistance.Comfortable working autonomously with your business partners and taking responsibility for your portfolio.An ability to balance judgment on legal and risk issues.Why 7-ElevenOpen office layout (in a great location Richmond) which promotes collaboration, conversation, and teamwork to drive results.A flexible, hybrid-friendly work environment where people can enjoy a mix of working from home and in-office collaboration.One day paid volunteer leave per year.Social Committee club with regular events.A strong focus on your development including unlimited access to LinkedIn Learning.Don''t worry if you don''t tick all the boxes, we still encourage you to apply!At 7-Eleven our people are at the heart of everything we do.We are committed to creating a workplace that fosters inclusion and celebrates diversity.
