The Maintenance Manager is a key support to the maintenance and production team and will assist with planning, designing, organising and oversee the assembly, operation and maintenance of mechanical and process plant and installations at Rombola Family farms. Key accountabilities include: Lead the maintenance team in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production or packhouse machinery and equipment. Develop and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to ensure machinery is regularly serviced, reducing the likelihood of breakdowns. Manage, train, and mentor the maintenance team to ensure a high level of skill and productivity. Schedule and assign tasks to team members. Oversee the inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies, ensuring that materials are ordered and stocked appropriately. Develop and manage the maintenance budget, track expenses, and recommend cost-effective solutions to maintain and repair machinery and equipment. Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting and implementing process or equipment upgrades that enhance production capacity and quality. Work closely with the production and operations teams to ensure maintenance schedules do not disrupt production timelines. Analysing workforce utilisation, facility layout, operational data and production schedules and costs to determine optimum worker and equipment efficiencies. Designing mechanical equipment, machines, components, products for manufacture, and plant and systems for construction Developing specifications for manufacture, and determining materials, equipment, piping, material flows, capacities and layout of plant and systems Organising and managing project labour and the delivery of materials, plants, and equipment Establishing standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection, and maintenance according to engineering principles and safety regulations Inspecting plants to ensure optimum performance is maintained. Directing the maintenance of plant buildings and equipment, and coordinating the requirements for new designs, surveys, and maintenance schedules. Select, train, and supervise staff and contractors when required. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. To be successful in the role you will possess the following: Trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, or a related field. Relevant certifications in maintenance or engineering are highly desirable. At least 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance management role, preferably within the agricultural or food production industry. Proven experience in managing a team and coordinating maintenance operations in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of machinery, equipment, and systems in a production or packhouse setting (e.g., conveyors, automated systems, refrigeration, etc.). Hands-on experience with both preventative and corrective maintenance strategies. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for identifying issues and implementing solutions quickly. Enjoy working outdoors, agriculture and the environment. To be able to perform tasks well alone as well as part of a team. Ability to analyse data and interpret trends. High level of written and verbal communication skills. Driver license.
