Director Agriculture Resource Management & AssessmentThe Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) leads the sustainable development of Western Australias regions and agriculture, aquaculture, food, and fisheries sectors. Our approach focuses on protecting, growing, and innovating WAs economy, community, and environment.About the opportunityWe have one (1) permanent, full-time position available for immediate filling.We are seeking a strategic and experienced leader to join DPIRD as the Director of Agriculture Resource Management and Assessment. This senior leadership role supports the administration of the Soil and Land Conservation Act 1945 and shapes policies and strategies for the sustainable growth of WAs agriculture and food sectors.Reporting to the Soil and Land Conservation Commissioner, you will lead the development and delivery of scientific, monitoring, and assessment programs that inform land use decisions and address land degradation risks across the state. You will provide high-level advice to government and senior executives on environmental and agricultural resource management, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and community needs. The role also includes overseeing branch operations, staff leadership, resource planning, and budget management.This is a pivotal opportunity for a forward-thinking leader to influence the future of sustainable agriculture in WA and deliver impactful programs that enhance the States natural resources.We are looking for individuals with:Extensive knowledge and experience in leading and managing agriculture resource management and assessment.Demonstrated experience in strategic analysis, planning, policy development, and implementation.Highly developed interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.Experience in leading, developing, and managing teams in a values-driven environment.Equity and DiversityAt DPIRD, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce and are an equal opportunity employer.
