Job Opportunity: Junior Journalist at New England TimesNew England Times is seeking a full-time junior journalist to join our team. We are an independent news site based in Armidale, serving the New England North West region of New South Wales. Our commitment is to deliver genuine stories, ask meaningful questions, and conduct investigative and hard news reporting. We are proud to be completely paywall-free.This role offers flexibility: you may work from our office in Armidale, remotely from anywhere in the region, or a combination of both. We especially encourage applicants from Glen Innes, Inverell, and nearby areas, with Armidale, Tamworth, Gunnedah, and Moree also in our sights.We welcome applications from journalists of all experience levels within the region. Ideally, candidates will have:Degree qualification or be in the final year of studies1-2 years of experience in deadline-driven news writingAbility to take quality photos and familiarity with digital tools like social media and Google WorkspaceEssential requirements include:Good local knowledge of some part or all of the New England regionA positive attitude and a commitment to quality workDriver''s license and access to a vehicleThe role involves covering a variety of topics. We particularly support those interested in politics (local council), renewable energy, agriculture, local business, community events, courts and crime, or sports, enabling specialization where possible.This is a full-time position with flexible hours, including options for a four-day week, weekend work with weekdays off, and early or late starts.Salary will be negotiated based on experience and in accordance with the Award.
