Greater Hume Council is a large rural Council focused on responsibility, growth, and sustainability. Located in southern New South Wales near the Murray River, bordering Victoria, and adjacent to the local government areas of Albury, Federation, Lockhart, Snowy Valleys, and Wagga Wagga Councils, our offices are spread across Holbrook, Culcairn, and Jindera, all close to Lake Hume. What the Role Offers An opportunity to join our dynamic Finance team is now available! You will process a variety of information in the Rating and Revenue system to ensure customer rate accounts are accurate and up to date. You will regularly engage with customers via phone, email, and letter, and support senior team members and management to ensure smooth operations within Revenue. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. We seek a team member who is detail-oriented, as accuracy is crucial. Experience in transactional accounting is advantageous. The role suits a quick learner capable of managing multiple processes and working under pressure, with a high workload and demanding deadlines. It is suitable for those who enjoy teamwork and taking responsibility for their own workload while supporting others. Strong problem-solving skills are essential for resolving issues effectively. Key tasks are detailed in the attached Position Description, requiring strong computer and numerical literacy to succeed in this role. Essential Qualifications and Skills Knowledge of accounting principles and general business practices; Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, maintain attention to detail, and meet deadlines; Excellent customer service skills, especially with difficult customers; Strong written communication skills and ability to solve problems through discussion and teamwork; Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software; Current Class ''C'' Driver''s Licence. Desirable Qualifications Experience in a local government rating environment; Understanding of legal and statutory requirements and processes; Formal qualification in Finance or Business. Position Details This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week, on a 9-day fortnight, with a salary range of $71,489.60 to $80,069.60 gross annually, plus 11.5% superannuation. The role offers flexibility to work from our Jindera or Holbrook offices.
