Job Description

Under the immediate direction and supervision of the Police Captain or their designee, performs highly specialized computer and administrative work in support of the Melbourne International Police Department (MAPD). Incumbent is primarily responsible for supervising the badging office and processing security badges and access monitoring, working within established policies and procedures. The position requires independent work, discretion, and diplomatic skill in explaining policies and collaborating with Airport personnel, local, state, and federal agencies, corporations, tenants, and visitors. The incumbent also supports other staff members as needed. Responsibilities: Oversees daily operations of the badging office, providing direction and support to staff and volunteers. Evaluates staff performance, offering coaching and guidance. Maintains documentation, including the Airport Badging Manual, ensuring compliance with TSA, Customs, and ASP requirements. Manages transition to new badging system, ensuring data accuracy for secure access control. Assists badge applicants with SSI online training and ensures completion per TSA and ASP standards. Serves as Public Records Representative, handling requests promptly and properly. Supports administrative duties for police leadership, including records management. Coordinates with TSA and Customs to ensure badge requirements are met. Acts as a Trusted Agent under the ASP and assists with its management. Prepares TSA audits and reports accurately and timely. Represents MAPD in meetings and interagency sessions, advising on badging issues. Communicates procedures and compliance information to tenants, employees, and customers. Assists in operating the security badge system and related applications. Enforces internal controls for badge processing to ensure data security. Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Performs additional tasks and manages projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Organizational Management, or Criminal Justice from an accredited institution. At least three years of responsible, high-volume customer service experience utilizing a computer database, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a civilian law enforcement role. Licenses and Certifications: Valid Florida drivers license. Pass TSA security background check. Complete FAA Security Class with a minimum score of 70. Pass pre-hire drug screening and ongoing random testing. FBI fingerprint criminal background check. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Understanding of security and safety regulations at Melbourne International Airport. Ability to learn airport security systems, rules, and regulations. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and deliver training presentations. Effective in establishing and maintaining working relationships. Physical and Mental Demands: Ability to perform tasks requiring hearing, vision, speech, and physical mobility. Capability to lift items under 15 pounds and work in high-paced environments. Ability to operate a vehicle if required. Prolonged sitting and standing, with periodic bending and kneeling. #J-18808-Ljbffr
