Mount Isa Special School is seeking a temporary full-time Head of Department (Curriculum) until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined. About The Role As a lead learner, you will need strong relational skills to develop positive relationships with students, staff, and the wider school community. You should possess well-developed strategic thinking and analytical skills to contribute to our school improvement agenda. The role requires adaptability and responsiveness to the needs of students and the school context. As the Head of Department (Curriculum), your responsibilities will include: Leading relevant curriculum areas or whole school programs to develop and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students. Coordinating and providing targeted teaching interventions for students requiring additional support. Supporting classroom teachers and staff to access departmental or external specialist services, professional development, and support as needed. Participating in school decision-making processes and professional development to contribute to school goals, vision, and planning. Implementing and coordinating school-wide systems, including data systems to monitor students with disabilities and record data on students with disability. Embedding socially just practices into daily school life. Setting high standards for student and staff performance. Engaging in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development. Forming partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups. Being futures-oriented and strategic. Understanding legislation and policies impacting schooling, especially regarding students and staff within the department. Managing human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources to achieve objectives. Interested?
