Position Details Permanent, full-time position HS1 classification Location: The Alfred Great staff benefits The Department The Surgical Services program delivers most surgical services across all Alfred Health sites, including surgical units, anaesthesia, perioperative medicine, operating suite service, inpatient wards, a medical day unit, day of surgery admissions, day surgery, and endoscopy. It manages elective surgery waiting lists, outpatient services, and handles over 200,000 attendances annually. Position Summary The Trauma Billing Clerk is responsible for managing billing and collection processes for the Trauma Service, including: Ensuring compliance with Hospital Policy on Private and Compensable Patients Conducting policy compliance audits Providing high-quality customer service and communication Performing billing data integrity checks and corrections Monitoring Medicare & Veteran Affairs claims, resolving rejections, and escalating issues Assisting with account queries for private and compensable patients Liaising with Finance teams to resolve issues Completing other billing tasks as assigned Experience and Qualifications Required: Experience with billing to Medicare, Private Health Funds, or similar revenue activities Excellent communication skills Ability to engage confidently with stakeholders Problem-solving skills and initiative Strong time management and organizational skills Self-motivated and able to work independently and in teams Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet deadlines Professional demeanor in difficult situations Experience designing and implementing efficient work systems Staff Benefits Salary packaging and novated leasing via Maxxia Onsite childcare, gym, and library facilities Health and wellbeing incentives Discounted health insurance Application and Enquiries For enquiries, contact Sarah Larwill - Director of Operations, Surgical Services, at s.larwill@alfred.org.au.
