Hilton Sydney is the flagship hotel for the Australasia region boasting 598 rooms, the iconic glass Restaurant, heritage listed Marble Bar and rooftop Zeta bar, as well as one of Australias largest hotel convention and meeting spaces. Located in the heart of Sydneys CBD, this is an unmissable opportunity to lead this iconic hotels proactive sales team as a Head of Department. JOB PURPOSE Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Director of Sales leads the hotels sales team, managing all sales activities to drive performance, managing key hotel client accounts, creating and executing strategic plans to achieve hotel targets, forming new and maintaining existing relationships, and developing talent within the commercial team. LEADERSHIP Lead the team in line with Hiltons global Promise to our Team Members. Develop a culture focused on the core Hilton values. Communicate effectively within the commercial department as well as within hotel departments. Ensure attendance at key commercial and hotel meetings. Develop talent within the team and continue to grow the teams overall competencies. Ensure succession plans are in place for entire team. Address performance challenges in a supportive, timely and decisive manner. Recruitment and selection of the Sales and Groups team. SALES Acquire, develop and grow key accounts to increase Hiltons market share across all segments and target markets Actively convert key enquiries in line with proposal and conversion process Develop the right Account Plans to that sales resources are mobilised to drive market share from Key Accounts with the highest potential Develop powerful personal relationships with decision makers and influencers within the top producing (or top potential) Hilton Sydney accounts Develop relationship and coordinate activity plans with all relevant global/regional sales offices Ensure that measurement systems are in place to track the production of all targeted accounts Ensure attendance at all major travel shows and client events On an annual basis identify the key retention and acquisition accounts Actively seek out new sources of business and additional opportunities for the hotel STRATEGY AND REVENUE MANAGEMENT Analyse trends of business by market segment, channel and GOB co-ordinates all activities to maintain and increase revenue through added business volume and increased rate Analyse performance of existing customers Schedule detailed action plans to support the Revenue Proposal for all sections of the business Identification of the capabilities of the hotel to serve the various types of business and programming of hotel sales efforts to solicit those sources the hotel is best qualified to serve, profitably Monitors production and profitability of sales packages Support commercial leadership team to establish strategy and procedure for: o Inquiry and proposal handling o Room / Space control o Response rates Occupancy statistics for all conference/banquet rooms Inquiry conversion statistics and improvement when needed Implement strategies to increase C&E and outlet revenues WHAT WILL IT BE LIKE TO WORK FOR HILTON? Self-motivated and able to work effectively without constant supervision. Creates an environment of learning, enjoyment and involvement where the team freely contribute. Outstanding team player and team leader. Strong commercial acumen, with experience in drafting and managing budgets/revenue proposals; analysing and forecasting results/market segments and rates A demonstrated ability to conduct detailed analytics of revenue and propose strategies to address any concerns Minimum three years experience in a similar role and tertiary qualifications. Able to take management direction and works well with a team and to lead a team to achieve goals. Previous experience in event sales/management, with innovative sales initiatives delivery techniques. Strong selling and lead management skills, and an understanding of closing the sale. Demonstrated attention to detail, while multi-tasking and delivering work on time. Ability to meet and conduct effective site inspections of the Hotel and facilities. Ability to work productively despite multiple interruptions. Ability to be customer focused and find solutions to exceed customer requirements. Demonstrates positive involvement and interaction with the overall Hilton team both at an individual, team & leadership level. Passionate, innovative, exciting customer service delivered with consistency and excellent attention to detail.
