Chief Operating Officer - Office of General CounselChief Operating Officer - Office of General CounselJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer (Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the operational functions of the Office of General Counsel (OGC). The COO will work closely with the General Counsel and other senior OGC leaders to drive the strategic goals of the legal team, optimise operational efficiency, and foster collaboration across the organisation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of managing complex projects and teams.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the day-to-day operations of the OGC, including finance, data and reporting, staff engagement, technology adoption and firm initiatives.Identify and implement initiatives and measures to improve operational efficiencies, and drive quality decision-making.Manage all Executive level reporting, including to the National Executive Committee, Board and Board sub-committees.Drive process improvement initiatives to support the goals and objectives of the OGC, including enhancing workflow efficiency, technology utilisation, and service quality.Collaborate with the General Counsel and OGC leadership team to establish OGC strategy and monitor performance against goals and metrics for operational performance.Act as a liaison between the OGC and other departments to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.Manage and mentoring the OGC operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.Manage the OGC budget, including forecasting, reporting, business planning, overseeing external legal spend and identifying cost-saving opportunities.Coordinate with other COOs within the organisation to ensure alignment and integration of operations across different departments.Recruitment and team development initiatives.Lead a knowledge management strategy for the OGC focused on developing precedents, learning opportunities and training material.ExperienceA minimum of 5 years of experience in operations, or related roles within a professional services or corporate environment.Proven experience in leadership and management of multidisciplinary teams.Strong change management experience to ensure continuous improvement, knowledge and innovation projects are strategically prioritised with the GC and that these are well-structured and effectively delivered.Sound financial acumen.Extensive experience working with senior executive leaders.Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and drive operational improvements.Exceptional communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.Strong understanding of legal operations, commercial transactions and disputes processes preferred.Proficiency in business software applications.QualificationsBachelors degree in business, law, or a related field.Additional InformationKPMG is a professional services firm with global outreach and deep sector experience.
