Job Description

Job Summary: The Communications Technician II performs technical responsibilities similar to a Cable Installer and leads a team of installers. Responsibilities include coordinating daily workloads, ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Install work area outlets, mount faceplates, surface mount boxes, and adhere to labeling standards. Build and install closets, including backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optics, and hardware. Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables. Complete IDC connections and perform testing on cables and circuits. Identify active voice or data circuits. Manage crew performance, provide training, and coordinate personnel and timelines. Accurately complete all required paperwork and adhere to safety and quality standards. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. Physical and Mental Requirements: The candidate must be self-motivated, professional, and capable of working at heights, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in confined spaces. Must have proven problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills, and be able to travel as needed. Regular attendance is mandatory. Tools required include screwdrivers, saws, levels, tape measures, pliers, hammers, wrenches, cable strippers, flashlights, gloves, punch tools, and tone sets. Qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Minimum of 2 years of experience in telecommunications or related fields. Proficiency with listed tools and ability to interpret blueprints and specifications. Knowledge of universal communication color codes. Valid drivers license and adherence to company driving standards. Additional Information: Salary ranges from USD $20.00 to $28.00 per hour. Must meet company minimum driving standards.
