We put the customer and our community at the centre of all that we do, ensuring our services are efficient and accessible.We are currently recruiting for a permanent part-time Library Technician based in the Broadmeadows Library team of Hume Libraries. The roster is 17.5 hours over three days per week, including one evening shift: Tuesday and Wednesday 10am - 5pm (each with a 45-minute break) and Thursday 5pm - 10pm.You will contribute to the provision of high-quality library services that meet the educational, recreational, and informational needs of the diverse Hume community by providing excellent customer service and assisting in maintaining the library collections.What youll be doing:Provide excellent customer service at the circulation desk, including issuing and returning items.Actively promote library resources and programs to the community.Assist the Hume Libraries programs team to plan, deliver, facilitate, and evaluate a range of programs across Hume Libraries as required.Contribute to local collection maintenance, including reallocating and withdrawing materials.Ensure all activities, events, and programs are planned and delivered successfully, following policies, procedures, and guidelines.Assist in designing and producing digital marketing screens for library programs advertised in the bi-monthly "What''s On" publication.Help customers with technology requirements, including downloading e-resources, borrowing, and printing.The skills and experience youll bring to the role:Diploma of Library / Information Services (Library Technician) or equivalent post-secondary qualification, with experience in a Public Library or similar environment.Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.Excellent computer skills.Experience in planning and facilitating library programs.Knowledge of electronic and print-based information resources.Knowledge of books and literature.Experience providing reference and information services to the public in libraries and community settings.Experience with cash handling and reconciliation processes.Please read the attached Position Description.
