The QFD offers a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and supports community safety outcomes. Purpose of the role Protect and serve the community by responding to fires and other emergencies in a professional and timely manner to minimise loss of life, property, and the environment. Improve community safety and emergency preparedness through fire prevention and community education activities. Entry requirements Entry levels include: Recruit Firefighter External Firefighter (Standing Order SO-Q-BM-3.26) Application, assessment, and selection processes are in place for both entry levels. Mandatory requirements Valid Blue Card from Blue Card Services Manual Medium Rigid (MR) drivers license recognized by the Department of Transport and Main Roads Current Apply First Aid Certificate Current Advanced Resuscitation Certificate Meet QFD medical and fitness standards Criminal History Check Clinical Psychometric Assessment Your key accountabilities Operations Management Respond to fires, road crash rescues, technical rescues, hazardous materials, and other emergencies. Operate emergency response vehicles and equipment safely and effectively, including driving fire appliances under varying conditions. Provide first aid and resuscitation as required. Maintain equipment, resources, and facilities for operational readiness. Perform operational duties within the five roles of the Operations Management function: research and information, risk reduction, readiness, response, and recovery. Community Safety Operations Promote community awareness through fire prevention and participate in community education programs. Assist with property inspections, evacuation planning, and emergency response procedures. Communicate effectively with colleagues and the community. Professional Development Maintain competencies through training and self-development. Participate in tactical, operational, and technical functions to acquire and maintain skills. Operations Business Management Undertake administrative duties and maintain records. Contribute to a safe, healthy, and productive work environment. Adhere to legislative, policy, and procedural requirements, including WHS legislation.
