Nambour & Hinterland Blues Senior Womens Coaching RolesPosted on Wednesday, 11th September, 2024The Hinterland Blues AFL Club has a long and storied history on the Sunshine Coast, established in 1970. Based in Palmwoods, we have members from under 6s all the way through to our senior mens and womens teams.The Hinterland Blues are one club. We field Junior, Youth boys and girls, Senior mens and Womens teams. Whilst we love to win and have had many successes across our history, we also value community and the participation of all our members. We are a club but more importantly we are a family and an extension of our local community!Position Summary:Our Womens program commenced in 2016, and has had varying levels of success. In 2025, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Womens Coaching Team that will lead and manage the QFAW Division 2 North Senior Womens team for the 2025 season.The Senior Coach role requires a passionate and experienced individual committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment. The Coach will be responsible for player development, game strategy, and creating a cohesive team culture that aligns with the clubs values and goals.Assistant Coaches will be responsible for a line group (i.e. defenders, midfielders or forwards) and will contribute to developing a part of gameplay relating to their line group (i.e. defence, stoppages or scoring).We are a family club and understand that family commitments and work will come first. However, games are played at 4.45pm on Saturday afternoons, and it is expected that the Coach will be available for all games throughout the season. In 2024, games have been played from Gympie to Ipswich and in between.Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Coaching:Develop and implement training programs that focus on skill development, fitness, team strategy, and individual growth.Provide clear and constructive feedback to players, fostering improvement and confidence.Lead the team during match days, ensuring effective game-day strategies and player management.Promote a positive team culture based on respect, inclusivity, and sportsmanship.Team Development:Work closely with the clubs junior coaches to align coaching philosophies and ensure a pathway for youth players to transition into the senior team.Work closely with the Senior Mens program to foster a strong senior club culture.Encourage player retention and recruitment by creating an engaging and supportive team environment.Communication and Administration:Maintain open lines of communication with players, club officials, and support staff.Attend club meetings, training sessions, and other events as required.Provide regular updates on team progress to the Club Committee.Health and Safety:Manage injuries and player welfare in conjunction with the clubs medical staff.Promote a culture of physical and mental well-being within the team.Qualifications and Experience:Minimum Level 1 AFL Coaching Accreditation (or willingness to obtain before the start of the season).A current Blue Card, or the ability to obtain one prior to the start of the season.A passion for womens AFL and sport.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop players of varying skill levels.Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive team environment.Desirable Attributes:Previous coaching experience at a senior or high-level junior level, preferably in womens football is desirable but not crucial.Demonstrated success in player development and team performance improvement.Remuneration:This is a volunteer position, but expenses may be covered. Remuneration may be considered for the right candidate.
