You will directly contribute to the success of the Starship program and all test flights and missions.RESPONSIBILITIES:Use in-depth familiarity of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to interpret blueprints at all assembly levelsCollect geometric data using laser tracker through model-based software such as VerisurfDiscern how best to establish a reference system for the current task then apply it and install it both on and off the partProvide analysis of collected data and evaluate it to provide direction for remaining tooling operationsIntegrate process monitoring with fabrication processes to locate welding and machining detailsApply the fabrication process on large structures and understand the environmental effects such as free states, temperature swings, and weld shrinkageEffectively communicate to fabricators, machinists, assemblers, engineers, and other parties as requiredEnsure operations can be performed safely while meeting SpaceX quality standardsMaintain an orderly environment that retains maximum utility for all team membersBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalency certification3+ years of professional experience working with laser trackers6+ months of experience with VerisurfPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Associates degree in applied scienceExperience analyzing data and generating data reportsExperience with Verisurf XExperience using inspection tools and equipment such as, micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, height gauges, optical comparators, profilometers, and CMMExperience with Leica laser trackersStrong understanding of geometric relationshipsUnderstanding of the manufacturing process of large structures from concept to completionAbility to precision locate machines and details in extreme environmentsStrong mechanical aptitudeAbility to visualize 3D space and integrate complex geometries on both large and small fabricationsAbility to use and learn a variety of software to observe, analyze, evaluate, and communicate pertinent informationDemonstrated leadership and dependabilityAbility to adapt to an extremely dynamic work environment while maintaining a positive attitudeAbility to find solutions to complex problems using critical thinking while drawing from previous experienceAbility to maintain the highest level of safety on the job site and bring new ideas of how to continue to work safely and effectively in new locations and changing environmentsDesire to integrate with teams that can make rapid changes and provide valuable skills to its cohesion and effectivenessADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Willingness to work overtime and weekends based on the operational needs of the businessAbility to work off-shift hours on a rotational or permanent basisAbility to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, stoop, bend, crawl, walk, maneuver in tight spaces, and stand for extended periodsAbility to work at elevated heightsAbility to work in outdoor environments - heat, cold, rainITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. * 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. * 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
