The role: We are seeking a dynamic & technically hands-on Engineering Manager in Sydney to lead & grow high-performing engineering teams delivering robust data & AI platform capabilities. You will play a pivotal role in building scalable data infrastructure, driving real-time & batch processing innovation, & operationalising AI/ML solutions. This role requires deep technical knowledge, people leadership, agile delivery expertise, & a strong alignment with strategic business outcomes. Top Role Accountabilities: Design, build, & manage scalable, secure, & reusable data processing frameworks (real-time, batch, and streaming) Collaborate closely with the Head of Engineering, DAP to execute on enterprise data strategy & platform vision Ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering outputs using modern DevSecOps, CI/CD, & infrastructure-as-code practices Drive continuous improvement in performance, resilience, cost-efficiency, & observability of data platforms Recruit, mentor, & coach engineering talent, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, & inclusion Manage stakeholder expectations & balance technical excellence with timely delivery Partner with data scientists, product managers, architects, & security teams to build integrated platform solutions To be successful you will have: 10+ years of experience in software/data engineering, including 3+ years in Data / Analytics / AI engineering leadership roles Experience in regulated industries such as banking, insurance, or telecommunications Familiarity with AI/ML toolchains (Dataiku, Azure ML, MLFlow, etc.). Background in supporting real-time decisioning systems & analytics-driven customer platforms Detailed understanding of Data & related Infrastructure development or Software Development Lifecycle Proven ability to inspire, lead, develop, manage & motivate a team of professionals to achieve departmental objectives Proven experience in building & scaling enterprise-grade data platforms & cloud-native services Deep technical expertise in Azure Cloud, Kafka/Streaming, Spark/Flink, Data Lake/Delta Lake, & ML Ops pipelines Solid understanding of data governance, security, observability, & compliance frameworks Demonstrated success in agile delivery within cross-functional teams & matrixed environments Our Values Rabobank Australia values inclusion, belonging, & positive experiences for all.
