Job DescriptionResponsible for providing direct care to patients with psychiatric disorders; ensuring the safety and well-being of patients; supporting the maintenance of a therapeutic milieu.Does this position require Patient Care?YesEssential FunctionsAssist with care and treatment of psychiatric, drug, and alcohol patients.Advocate for patients who may be vulnerable or need additional support.Provide parent/family counseling, including Parent Management Training and Family Systems interventions.Adhere to guidelines for patients on special status (e.g., suicide, sexual abuse, or AWOL precautions).Provide accurate shift-to-shift reports and remain on the unit during incoming shift reports.Display professional boundaries with patients at all times.Complete and file all documentation promptly as required.QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent required.Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? NoLicenses and CredentialsBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred.Nursing Assistant (LNA - New Hampshire) - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred.Experience0-1 year related experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to work well collaboratively and independently.Ability to operate within Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.Basic computer skills.Effective communication with patients, healthcare team, and families.Ability to give full attention, understand points made, ask questions, and avoid inappropriate interruptions.Successful completion of CPI training within 30 days of hire.Physical RequirementsFrequent standing and walking (34-66%).Occasional sitting (3-33%).Frequent lifting (34-66%) 35lbs+ with assisted device.Frequent carrying (34-66%) 20-35lbs.Occasional pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and foot use.Frequent reaching, handling, fingering, and feeling.Constant vision (far and near), talking, and hearing.North Shore Medical Center, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
