The Legal Services Commission is looking for experienced lawyers to work with us in performing our key role in ensuring the integrity and strength of the legal profession is maintained. This is your opportunity to join the Commission in a senior leadership role in our investigations teams, handling a range of complex regulatory matters.You will be part of a team responsible for high priority investigations, including alleged offences and significant conduct matters, supporting urgent injunctive work, prosecutions, disciplinary proceedings and other regulatory functions. This critical role requires excellent analytical and investigative skills, outstanding communication skills and a commitment to continual improvement.As a Lawyer with the Commission''s Professional Conduct team at PO6 classification, you will assist in the performance of the Commission''s functions under the Legal Profession Act 2007.ResponsibilitiesThe role includes independent and collaborative work to support other lawyers, investigators, regulatory litigators and the Commissioner in discharging regulatory functions, and you will undertake a range of legal work, with key responsibilities requiring the ability to:communicate effectively with and manage the expectations and demands of a wide range of internal and external clients ranging from senior members of the legal profession, through to clients and other members of the public who may have a limited understanding of the legal system and processesassess and advise in relation to complaints about conduct within legislated time framesinvestigate and review the conduct of lawyers, law practice employees, unlawful operators and other persons within the Commission''s jurisdiction, and recommend what action, if any, the Commissioner should takeidentify apparent inappropriate conduct that is not subject to complaint and recommend that the Commissioner initiate ''own motion'' investigations where warrantedmentor more junior members of your team as a first point of contact, including regular one-on-ones, monitoring work progress and relieving bottleneckscontribute to the preparation of regulatory litigation, including discipline applications, summary offence prosecutions, injunction applications and other enforcement action that is brought by the Commissionerdischarge other duties as directed from time to time, including:assisting other teams of the Commission when operationally requiredrecommending improvements to the Commission''s policies, procedures, work practices and management systems to enable the Commission to maintain high standards of service and to continually improvecontributing to the Commission''s project, research, policy and educational activities, including preparing and delivering professional development sessions.Applications to remain current for 12 monthsJob Ad Reference: QLD/634181/25Closing Date: Friday, 16 May 2025Occupational group Justice & Legal #J-18808-Ljbffr
