Job Description

This is an opportunity to work within a team that provides high level specialist upport to the Minister and Director-General on the departments complex Cabinet, Parliamentary and Legislative agendas. This position supports the Manager and Cabinet, Legislation and Liaison Officer in coordinating and critically reviewing a wide range of Executive Government material across the departments portfolio responsibilities.As the Senior Cabinet and Parliamentary Officer (AO5) you will:Provide quality support to the Cabinet, Legislation and Liaison Officer through the provision of high-level specialist support of activities in relation to Cabinet and Parliamentary business.Coordinate and critically examine Executive Government documentation (e.g. Possible Parliamentary Questions, responses to Questions on Notice, feedback on Discussion Papers, Cabinet briefing material) to ensure they adhere to Government Handbook requirements.Maintain close liaison with key business group contacts within the department to exchange feedback and provide guidance on the preparation of relevant documents.Liaise and negotiate with the Minister''s Office, officers of other Government departments, and the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, as required.Maintain knowledge of Government policies, procedures and processes when preparing Cabinet and Parliamentary business.Develop and implement strategies and systems to ensure that appropriate prioritisation, time management, customer focus, and quality assurance occurs within the Cabinet and Parliamentary Services team.Provide assistance and support in other projects within the team and/or branch.Contribute to the ongoing improvement of service delivery of the team.Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.This Position RequiresDemonstrated ability in communicating in a clear, succinct and deliberate manner.Ability to critically review and interrogate Cabinet and Parliamentary material.High-level interpersonal, problem solving and negotiation skills, and the ability to successfully initiate and implement change and continuous improvement in the workplace.Demonstrated ability to coordinate and prioritise high volume government documentation.Proven ability to build rapport and establish strong and mutually beneficial relationships.High-level knowledge of Queensland Cabinet and Parliamentary administrative processes.Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of safety, innovation, respect and inclusion.QualificationsThere are no mandatory qualifications required to undertake this position, however previous experience in a Cabinet or Parliamentary team would be highly desirable.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Occupational groupAdministration#J-18808-Ljbffr
