Description of the position and work areaRural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) Districts support operational and organizational functions in managing rural fires, enabling field staff and volunteers to focus on response tasks. Each District includes operational and non-operational staff, volunteers, and fire brigades that provide fire management, mitigation, and response services for rural, semi-rural, and some urban fringe communities across the state.Reporting to the Assistant Chief Officer (District), the successful candidate will coordinate mitigation strategies and education programs for Brigades, aligned with statewide bushfire mitigation frameworks. Responsibilities include managing the Fire Warden network and implementing the Permit to Light System district-wide, contributing to planning, execution, and evaluation of programs. The role involves collaboration with the Bushfire Mitigation unit and engagement with stakeholders at various levels to strengthen bushfire mitigation networks in the community.Mandatory requirements- Must meet the mandatory requirements and attributes outlined in the generic RFSQ Inspector role description.Highly desirable requirements- Demonstrated effective communication with stakeholders from rural and remote communities.Primary dutiesThis role builds upon the generic RFSQ Inspector role description, emphasizing leadership and exemplifying QFD values and behaviors. Key duties include:Leading bushfire mitigation planning and activities, including risk assessments and residual risk evaluation.Managing and mentoring Bushfire Mitigation Officers and First Nations officers to enhance community engagement and preparedness.Assuming the Chief Fire Warden duties in their absence and supporting bushfire operations.Overseeing the Fire Warden network, including appointments, training, and dispute resolution.Managing the Permit to Light Fire system and collaborating with the Bushfire Mitigation Unit for improvements.Supporting bushfire risk data management and serving as a liaison for intelligence sharing.Managing regulatory tools like fire bans and assisting with fire investigations and enforcement.Coordinating district bushfire committees and participating in related forums and working groups.Additional informationApplicants with the rank of substantive Inspector, RFSQ, are preferred; however, suitable Rural Officer Two (RFSO2) candidates are encouraged to apply.Volunteers and external candidates with relevant skills are welcome to apply.A commitment to maintaining bushfire competencies and teamwork is essential.Travel within and outside the region may be required, including interstate deployments.This is a day position but may require flexible hours, including nights and weekends.Participation in professional development is expected.Role-specific training will be provided to maintain competencies within the QDMA framework. #J-18808-Ljbffr
