At the ACCC, we believe the best version of you is the one thats true to who you are and thats the you we want working alongside us.We value flexibility, and all roles can be performed from any capital city in a state or territory or Townsville and are available on a full-time, part-time or job-share basis.Applicants from diverse backgrounds including First Nations peoples, people with disability and those from different cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.What you will do as the General Manager, Competition Enforcement and Advocacy or General Manager, Merger AssessmentWhat Will You Dorepresent the ACCC, manage strategic engagement activities with key industry, stakeholder and consumer organisations, including leading discussion and providing strategic and expert advice in decision making forums.oversee projects and activities, including planning, monitoring, reporting, research and analysis.exercise judgement under pressure to decide the right course of action in challenging and complex scenarios where information is not always complete.effectively and proactively manage cultural change.play an active stewardship role by contributing to the success of your peers, accepting and demonstrating collective responsibility for the success of the ACCC, engaging constructively to support corporate initiatives and policies, and balancing local and broader agency priorities to seek the best outcomes for the agency.innovate and problem-solve by harnessing specialist expertise to tackle complex challenges.thrive in the face of uncertainty and adapt to changing organisational demands as new challenges emerge.manage complex relationships and build momentum for transformational change by cultivating productive partnerships.About YouIn order to succeed in the role, you will have:High level management and leadership skills (including intellectual leadership) and superior people-management skills, including supporting learning and capability development.A proven ability to achieve organisational outcomes, build organisational capability and manage risk to ensure government objectives are achieved.Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation and influencing skills, including the ability to represent and negotiate on behalf of the department.A proven ability to engage constructively to support corporate initiatives and policies, building relationships across an agency and balancing local and broader agency priorities to seek the best outcomes for the agency.High level analytical skills including the capacity to provide evidence-based advice to support decision making.An outstanding track record in leading and delivering high quality advice in a complex and sensitive environment, including adopting innovative approaches to difficult issues as appropriate.Relevant technical skills relating to the role (see above section regarding specific skills and experience required for each role).A relevant tertiary qualification combined with at least 8-10 years post-qualifications experience in law, economics, public policy or related fields.Successful applicants will undertake pre-employment screening checks, including a criminal history check, and will be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the Australian Public Service.
