We are Quest Coffee Roasters, a long established high volume espresso bar and organic coffee roastery with a loyal community following in Burleigh Heads and the Gold Coast. We sell coffee beans and products in store, online, and wholesale. We are known for our top quality coffee, epic toasties, delicious in house baked cakes and treats, and friendly caf service.We are looking for a Senior Barista / Trainer to join our team!Position:Senior BaristaHours:32-40 hours / week (Casual with consideration for full time role)Schedule:Between 4:45am and 5pmRate:$34.00 to $37.00 / hr + Super, Bonuses, and Penalty RatesLocation:Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast, QLDRESPONSIBILITIESDay Management Opening and closing the caf, managing inventory, ordering supplies, and efficiently running the day shift on some days.Baristaresponsibilities, including expertly preparing and serving a variety of beverages, food items, and providing exceptional customer service.Maintaining strictquality controlstandards for all drinks and coffee bean preparation at Quest venues.Menu developmentthrough team collaboration to introduce new and exciting coffee and non-coffee beverage offerings that align with customer preferences and trends.Performing regularmaintenance tasksand promptly troubleshooting any issues related to coffee and beverage equipment to ensure uninterrupted service.Providingexpert advice and opinionson coffee selection, brewing techniques, and recommending complementary food items to enhance the overall customer experience.Conducting comprehensivetraining and developmentsessions for Quest team members at all venues, fostering continuous skill progression and a culture of excellence.Welcoming and engaging customerswith friendly conversation, and actively determining their coffee preferences and needs to provide personalised recommendations.Educatingboth the team and customers about the characteristics of different coffee beans, their origins, and the nuances of various roasts.Activelypromoting and selling coffees, as well as coffee brewing equipment, by effectively communicating the unique attributes and benefits of each product.Staying informedand up to date on the latest coffee and caf drink trends, attending industry events, and sharing knowledge with the Quest team to continually elevate the cafs offerings.Maintaining aclean, safe, and hygienic work environmentthat adheres to organisation standards and follows sanitation regulations to prioritise the well-being of both staff and customers.ABOUT YOUPROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS3 or more years of recent experience as a Barista in a high volume cafe.1 or more years experience as a Head / Lead barista or Barista Trainer in a high volume cafe.Strong knowledge of coffee beans, origins, and brewing techniques.Strong listening and verbal communication skills.A strong understanding of Food Health & Safety.NICE TO HAVECertification II or more in Hospitality.Organic handling experience.Cafe or Restaurant Management experience.Food handling / Cookery experience.PERSONAL REQUIREMENTSAustralian citizen or resident with an appropriate visa to work in Australia.Note: This role is not suitable for Working Holiday VISA holders.Availability to work at least 1 weekend day every 2nd weekAvailability to work shifts from 5am to 2:45pm weekdays, and between hours 5am to 5pm on weekends.Loves coffee and teaOwn transport to and from workPERSONAL QUALITIESYou strive for open and honest communication with respect for others.Thrives under pressure and in fast paced environments.Professional demeanour and a desire to exceed expectations.Strong customer focus and empathy.Makes others happy makes you happy.Desire to learnYou are reliable, punctual, and organisedYou like getting things done and care about how they get doneYou are proactive and self-directed, identifying issues and opportunities ahead of timeYou strive for achievement and making a differenceHOW TO APPLYPlease submit your CV and a short cover letter using the form below and well reach out to you to schedule an initial chat.
