Join the Employee Relations team within People and Culture, Corporate Services at the Department of Housing and Public Works as an AO7, Principal Advisor. This is a temporary flexible full-time role for 12 months with a possibility of extension. This role is part of the Employee Relations Centre of Expertise, a specialist team providing expert advice and assistance across the department on all industrial and employee relations matters.As Principal Advisor, Employee Relations, you will be responsible for providing industrial relations and employee relations advice and assistance across the department.Key Responsibilities:Lead the implementation of effective industrial and employee relations strategies across the department, including developing and implementing employee relations and human resources policies and initiatives.Provide high-level advice to departmental management and staff on contemporary employee relations and human resource issues, including organisational change, discipline, performance management, conflict resolution, and industrial relations.Represent the department in negotiations of enterprise bargaining agreements and coordinate related activities, including liaising with central agencies and consulting with staff.Deliver industrial relations consultancy services, especially in providing expert advice on matters related to the department''s employment framework, and the interpretation and application of relevant agreements, awards, legislation, and directives.Engage in high-level negotiations with employee organisations regarding industrial relations and human resource issues, mediating and liaising on day-to-day issues affecting the department and its employees.Represent the department and advocate before external tribunals, including the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.Lead research and prepare high-level correspondence, including submissions, briefing notes, ministerial responses, and information papers related to employee and industrial relations issues.Conduct research into industrial relations issues pertinent to the department''s business and employees, assessing applicability, cost impacts, and implications for the whole department and government, and formulate recommendations based on findings.Applications will remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference:QLD/635169/25Closing Date:Wednesday, 21 May 2025Note:Due to recent machinery of government changes, the department is now the Department of Housing and Public Works.Occupational group:HR & Industrial Relations#J-18808-Ljbffr
