Whitfield State School is seeking a dedicated and proactive Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities to join our team on a temporary part-time basis, working 45 hours per fortnight, until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined. The successful applicant will ensure the school grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard, providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the wider community. This role includes grounds and garden maintenance, minor repairs, event setup, and support with operational tasks. The Grounds Officer will also contribute to a positive school environment by supporting facility operations and collaborating with staff on activities and events. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification, with eligibility for progression to OO3 upon meeting specific criteria. The salary rate reflects the OO2 to OO3 classification range. The role encompasses operational, maintenance, and support tasks, including: Groundskeeping: Lawn and garden care, tree/shrub maintenance, sports facilities upkeep, and groundskeeping equipment maintenance. Communication & Coordination: Liaising with staff and contractors regarding maintenance, lost property, and supplies. Cleaning & Waste Management: Drain/gutter clearing, waste collection, rubbish removal, and assisting during events. Workplace Safety & Repairs: Maintaining safety, storing chemicals properly, hazard reporting, and general repairs. Security: Managing security systems and building lock/unlock procedures. Special Needs Support: Basic maintenance of equipment for students with disabilities. Please refer to the attached role description for mandatory requirements.
