Job Description Role Purpose and Objectives The Planning Department assesses planning permit applications, provides advice on development issues, and communicates processes, decisions, and outcomes to community stakeholders. The Planning Enquiries Officer serves as the initial contact point for customers regarding planning permit inquiries. They provide general development advice to internal and external customers, ensuring accurate information delivery to meet the Business Units strategic and operational goals. Key Responsibilities Providing information and advice on planning and development inquiries and pre-lodgement requests Interpreting and advising on the Victorian planning system, including relevant Acts, the Moira Planning Scheme, and VCAT processes Guiding stakeholders on where to find information and planning controls on Council and State Government websites Building and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders Conducting preliminary reviews of applications and processing minor applications Promoting continuous improvement in processes, systems, and activities for better service delivery Providing administrative support to the Planning Department to meet statutory obligations and organizational objectives Enhancing the Councils image to internal and external customers This role may be offered at Band 5 or Band 6, depending on qualifications and experience. For new graduates or students with relevant experience, this is an excellent entry point into the planning field. If eligible for Band 5 upon commencement and later qualifying for Band 6, reclassification may be considered based on service delivery improvements. To view the Position Description, click the link.
