In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of building surveyors while overseeing complex projects and ensuring compliance withrelevant Victorian building control legislation, codes and standards, local laws, policies, guidelines and Ministerial Guidelines.What youll be doing:Carry out duties, functions and responsibilities of the Municipal Building Surveyor under and in accordance with the relevant instrument of delegation issued by the Municipal Building SurveyorProvide efficient, effective, cooperative and professional support to the Municipal Building Surveyor and Deputy Municipal Building SurveyorLead and mentor a team of building surveyors, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work and timely project completionAssistance with or preparation of Council reports or other building control related reports.To appear, represent and provide expert witness evidence in Building Appeals Board and Court proceedings.Attend to building control enquiries, investigations and Emergency Callouts in accordance with relevant building control legislation, rosters and policies.Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgetsLiaise with clients, contractors, and local authorities to address building-related issues and ensure compliance with regulationsStay up-to-date with the latest building codes, regulations, and industry best practicesImplement and maintain quality control processes for all surveying activitiesContribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and maintaining client relationshipsCollaborate with other departments to enhance overall organisational efficiency and effectivenessThe skills and experience youll bring to the role:Bachelor''s degree in Building SurveyingRegistration as a Building Surveyor-Unlimitedwith the Victorian Building AuthorityMinimum of 5years of experience in building surveying, with a proven track record of successful project managementPrevious team leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to motivate and develop staffIn-depth knowledge of the Building Act, Regulations and Building Code of AustralianProficiency in building surveying techniques, construction standards, and sustainable building practicesExcellent report writing skills and attention to detailOutstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders at all levelsAnalytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilitiesCommitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trendsWhy Hume City Council?A leader in local government, were committed to creating an inclusive and collaborative work environment that is guided by our values:Were better, every day: We give things a go and value progress over perfection.
