We are searching for a Senior Counsellor to live and work onsite at Yulara, NT, which is a 20-minute drive from Uluru, one of Australia''s most iconic and culturally significant landmarks.About the teamThe Voyages Wellbeing Team facilitates culturally safe, evidence-based initiatives to enhance the social, emotional, spiritual, and cultural wellbeing of all staff members working at Ayers Rock Resort. The team focuses on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, including trainees in the on-site residential National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA). The team develops and delivers outcomes through professional counselling services, dynamic activities programs, staff training opportunities, and the residential support program for NITA trainees.About the roleThe Senior Counsellor provides evidence-based, relationship-focused therapeutic assessment, counselling, and psychological support for residents in Yulara. The team comprises a General Manager of Wellbeing, two Counsellors, an Activities Coordinator, a Youth Worker, and the Residential Support Manager.The role aims to enhance the social, emotional, spiritual, and cultural wellbeing of all staff at Ayers Rock Resort through professional counselling services. This includes active community engagement across the resort to develop resident awareness of available supports and to provide a culturally safe environment informed by the local context.The key duties include:Therapeutic assessment and counselling: providing counselling, debriefing, critical incident support, and psycho-education sessions to staff and their families, using a trauma-informed, person-centred SEWB model.Case management: maintaining accurate session notes, records, and statistics; working collaboratively with specialist services in Yulara, Alice Springs, and other regional locations, including coordinating practical supports.Community engagement and education: partnering with team members and departments to facilitate mental health awareness programs, training, and outreach activities.Stakeholder relationships: maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver program outcomes.Formulating, implementing, and evaluating individual support plans, with follow-up care and referrals as needed.About youYou are an experienced practitioner with a deep understanding of the strengths and challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and you are willing to listen and learn. You hold relevant tertiary qualifications in social work or a related field, with experience in individual and group counselling covering issues such as trauma, grief, mental health, relationships, and substance misuse. You have proven experience in case management, communication, advocacy, supporting residents in practical needs, and safety planning.The Best PartThis role offers a unique opportunity to connect with culture and support trainees in completing their 12-month traineeship.
