Job Description

The Finance Manager will lead the development of a continuous improvement Financial Management Strategy that supports the future plans and best practice service aspirations of Central Queensland Indigenous Development.Key Responsibilities and DutiesPrepare, monitor, and report on budgets related to existing and proposed funding agreements.Ensure supplier payments are made in accordance with policy.Ensure staff wages are paid on time and in accordance with relevant awards and policies.Complete all compliance activities related to the finance portfolio within mandated timeframes.Manage external audits and the completion of annual financial statements.Establish, organize, maintain, and continually improve procedures, reports, and systems related to the Finance portfolio.Coordinate and improve compliance, risk, and quality assurance activities and systems.Provide managers and staff with expert advice on finance issues to ensure standards are met and documents are properly maintained for audit and compliance purposes.Manage employment tax and salary packaging requirements.Support and develop the Finance team.Provide professional advice and support to the General Manager Operations.Build respectful and professional relationships with suppliers, contractors, funders, partners, community, and colleagues.Develop and implement best practice financial policies and procedures.Work to enhance the reputation of CQID and undertake additional duties as required.Maintain and support the Corporate Services team to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Human Services Quality Standards (HSQS).Work within CQIDs Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.Qualifications and ExperienceTo succeed, you should demonstrate:Hold a current C Class Queensland Drivers Licence.Current Working with Children Check, Blue Card.A minimum of 5 years accounting experience or similar roles.Willingness to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate.Ability to lead a team and develop others, showing flexibility and a proactive attitude.Strong understanding of accounting principles, journal entries, and ledger balances.Knowledge of accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, electronic banking, BAS, payroll.Tertiary qualifications in Business/Finance.Experience delivering services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Skills and AttributesAboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage (Note: Non-Indigenous applicants will only be considered if no suitable Indigenous candidates are attracted in the first round of applicants).Strong organizational and time management skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Physical ability to perform job responsibilities.Effective communication skills.Self-motivated and capable of managing work independently.Strong numerical, financial analysis, and reporting skills.Ability to learn and operate computer-based accounting systems. #J-18808-Ljbffr
