Our team operates a fleet of plant and equipment critical to project delivery, and we are seeking a skilled and proactive Diesel Mechanic to help maintain and manage our fleet.Position SummaryThe Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and repair of a broad range of plant and equipment including skid steers, piling rigs, telehandlers, forklifts, trucks, and various light machinery. Based in Barham, NSW, the role involves both workshop and field-based responsibilities, including attending breakdowns on active construction sites throughout NSW and VIC. This role will also incorporate elements of plant management, such as service scheduling, fleet reporting, and parts procurement.Key Responsibilities:Maintenance & RepairPerform scheduled maintenance and servicing on diesel-powered machinery and vehiclesDiagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faultsRespond to on-site equipment breakdowns and conduct field repairs when necessaryPlant ManagementMaintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with maintenance schedulesOversee pre-start inspections and ensure plant availability for projectsManage spare parts inventory and order parts as neededCoordinate with site teams to plan equipment servicing and minimise project disruptionCompliance & SafetyEnsure all mechanical work is performed in accordance with company safety procedures and industry regulationsMaintain a clean, safe, and well-organized workshop and service vehicleAssist with machinery compliance checks, registrations, and inspectionsSkills & ExperienceRequired:Trade qualified Diesel Mechanic (Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent)Proven experience working on construction or earthmoving equipmentStrong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systemsCurrent manual drivers licenceWillingness to travel and work on remote solar farm sites as requiredPreferred:HR or HC truck licenceForklift and EWP ticketsExperience in plant/fleet management systemsBasic computer literacy (for scheduling, reporting, and ordering parts)Personal AttributesSelf-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and ownershipStrong communication and teamwork skillsSafety-first mindset with a high attention to detailAbility to work independently and adapt to changing site conditionsBenefitsCompetitive remuneration based on experienceCompany service vehicle, tools, and phone providedOpportunity to work in the renewable energy sectorCareer development and training opportunities #J-18808-Ljbffr
