Job Summary:This role is a short-term project up to 6 months starting immediately. Short-term project status, this role can be either Hybrid or Remote. See some of our current projects here.Your roleAs a Senior Compositor, you will combine live action and computer-generated elements into visual effects shots that realize the vision and creative direction of the client and Visual Effects Supervisor. Your work includes live action plates, 2D tracking, matte extraction, layering elements, and colour grading to create seamlessly integrated shots.You should have strong fine arts foundation skills, such as photography and photographic lighting, as well as a good sense of composition, colour, and design. However, success is also possible with experience and work samples in just one area, as long as you are eager to learn!What will you be doing?Use artistic and technical skills with the Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisor to evaluate approaches for assigned shots.Create high-quality complete shots maintaining overall look, colour balance, and quality for sequences to ensure consistency.Collaborate with team members to determine aesthetic solutions; provide feedback during dailies.Mentor Apprentice / Jr. Artists, assisting with their shots.Meet milestones within timelines.Participate in dailies and creative problem solving.Skills and experienceDegree in Computer Graphics, Fine Arts, Design, or Photography (preferred but not mandatory).At least 5 years relevant experience in feature film.Proven compositing skills demonstrated through a showreel.Enjoy problem-solving and creative thinking.Fluent in Nuke.Python and/or C++ experience is a plus.Ability to write Nuke gizmos is a plus.Reel or portfolio is highly recommended; include it with your application.Join ILMThis position is with Lucasfilm Entertainment Company Ltd.
