The role will be based out of our Melbourne office but will cater for projects locally and nationally.The role is primarily responsible for applying high-level innovative, economical and practical methods to drive the success of complex, high-priority projects across major infrastructure.This position manages a variety of activities and teams across disciplines, providing expert knowledge, effective leadership, management, and development opportunities to project employees.Our Project Managers are responsible for building SMECs reputation as a leading consultant with a strong brand for innovation, technical excellence, quality, and project delivery, as well as growing the business through targeted client relationship management.Key Accountabilities:Provide project management and governance of complex projects to achieve reliable performance in terms of commercial outcomes, design solutions, timeliness, and quality.Build and maintain strong client relationships through successful project delivery and targeted activities.Lead project teams to ensure cohesion, optimal performance, resourcing, retention, and professional development.Collaborate proactively with team members and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness, and coordination of deliverables.Contribute to the commercial success of projects and the team, driving business development activities.Suitable applicants will have:Local experience successfully delivering major rail infrastructure projects in Victoria.10+ years managing civil infrastructure projects of >$1m successfully to budget and client specifications.Degree in an engineering discipline.Chartered engineer (CPEng / RPEV) with competencies with Victorian and national rail agencies; previous work on Victorian rail projects is a plus.Extensive experience in managing, designing, and delivering complex projects of national significance within multidisciplinary engineering contexts.Proven leadership, motivation, management, development, and resourcing of high-performing teams.Experience monitoring and managing scope and risk of multiple complex projects, applying business systems.Established trusting relationships with key clients and stakeholders, delivering excellent service.Multiple instances of delivering client outcomes resulting in cost savings and community benefits.Engagement with key stakeholders to exceed client expectations.In return, SMEC offers the benefits of working in a global multidisciplinary consultancy where your ideas and enthusiasm are valued and rewarded.SMEC is an equal opportunity employer.
