Its mission is to enhance professional and ethical policing in Victoria, guided by values such as independence, responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.Divisions and FunctionsReview Division:Handles tribunal functions, reviews police discipline decisions, and manages appeals related to promotions and transfers.Professional Standards Division:Advises on standards, training, and ethics, supporting police professional development.Registration Division:Registers former police and advises on appointments, supported by current and former police officers.Role OverviewThe Deputy President will lead the Review Division, working closely with the President. Responsibilities include conducting hearings for dismissals, transfers, and promotions, often within tight timeframes, and making fair, legally sound decisions.Candidate ProfileHigh integrity and ethical standardsSound judgment and excellent communication skillsAbility to conduct fair hearings and provide well-reasoned decisionsKnowledge of policing issues and leadership capabilitiesQualifications and ExperienceThe role requires either a former Victoria Police officer or a legal practitioner with at least five years of experience. Tribunal experience, leadership, and previous board roles are desirable.
