About The Role The Junior Quantity Surveyor (JQS) will report to the Senior Project Manager within CCT-6 (PMO) and work under the supervision of the Managing Quantity Surveyor, assisting in commercial and contract management across multiple projects. The role focuses on cost control, project valuation, contract administration, and supporting procurement processes to ensure efficient project delivery and maximum value for money. Key Responsibilities Assist in cost forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow projections. Support the preparation and/or review of Payment Certificates. Review and balance Contractor Bill of Quantities (BoQs) at tender stage. Help with the build-up of rates for contract activities and items. Assist in adjusting and reviewing provisional sums or budgetary allowances within BoQs. Assist in preparing and/or reviewing Cost Reports for individual programs. Support the preparation and/or review of Variation Orders and submit for approval. Reconcile and process project final accounts, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. Support in maintaining accurate weekly/monthly reports and communicate feedback to stakeholders. Assist in contract compliance and ensure correct QS-related information on reporting systems (e.g., FastDraft). Participate in Supply Chain Management processes when required. Qualifications & Experience Professional training and membership of an appropriate professional organisation (e.g., RICS). 4 or more GCSEs/S grades including Maths and English and 2 A levels/H grades, including Maths and English, BTEC/SQA award, a degree or equivalent qualification. Minimum 2 years of experience in cost estimation or a similar role. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.). Familiarity with estimating tools and cost build-up spreadsheets is advantageous. Registration with RICS as an Associate Member (AssocRICS) will be beneficial. Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Experience in meeting project deadlines and QS-related tasks effectively. Knowledge of Health and Safety Act regulations. Knowledge and experience working with NEC contracts is advantageous. Benefits Company pension Private medical insurance and healthcare schemes.
